Questions practices ask us
Short answers. If yours isn’t here, write to hello@nerihealth.in.
What is the DPDP Act?
A national law on personal details, including patient details. Its main duties for clinics, hospitals, labs, pharmacies and similar practices start on 13 May 2027.
Does it apply to a small practice like mine?
Yes, if any patient details are on a computer, phone or app. This includes scanned papers and chat apps. There is no general exemption for small practices.
Is there anything to do before May 2027?
Yes. Patient records are already protected under the IT Act. If they leak through carelessness, a practice can be made to pay compensation today.
Are you lawyers?
No. Neri is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. We set things up, run them and stay on call. If you need legal advice, we can introduce you to independent advocates, free of charge, and you choose whether to engage them.
Will you see my patients’ records?
No. Your practice keeps its records, and every account we set up is in your name. How we handle data
Can someone in my practice be the contact patients ask about their details?
Yes. The law lets you choose who that is. We can be that contact for you, or support the person you choose. Your practice stays responsible either way.
Can't I just use a template, an app or an AI tool?
Those can tell you what the law says. They can't set things up inside your own systems, follow up with your software companies, train your staff, or be there when something goes wrong. That is the part we do.
What does it cost?
Each service has a fixed fee, quoted after the free check. There are no hourly bills. You can pick a single service or several.
Do you visit the practice?
Most work is done remotely, by phone, video and email. We visit when it really helps.
What happens after set-up?
Everything is handed over to you, and your staff are trained. We stay on call for questions, changes and anything that goes wrong. A yearly review is available as ongoing care.
Is the readiness check stored anywhere?
No. It runs on your own phone or computer. Nothing reaches us unless you choose to email us your result.
I run a lab, imaging centre, pharmacy or optical shop. Is this for me?
Yes. If you keep patient or customer health details, the new law applies to you too.
